During the two week wait, we are often tempted to test early, but there is always the fear of being completely disheartened by a false negative pregnancy test.
I came across this info on http://www.fertilityplus.org/ that lists out the average HCG level by days past ovulation during the TWW.
I have to question this data though, because that would mean the majority of pregnancy tests would detect pregnancy at 10dpo. Most home pregnancy tests detect HCG levels of 25. This does make me think more about testing early. What do you think?
From what I found out hpt, the more expensive ones, should detect.as low as 20-25, but reality most hpt detect at 50 or more. Store brand tests are usually 50+, FRER shoild be less than 50
ReplyDeleteHGC does not begin to process in the body until AFTER implantation-not ovulation. Those levels are correct for days past implantation. Implantation can occur +/- 6-12 days after fertilization. Fertillization occurs one day after ovulation. You honestly might not get a positive result until 18-20 dpo depending on when you implant and how fast your body produces hgc. Hope this helps to all the late females with bfns out there!
ReplyDeleteso my at home test were ept and frer ..and walgreens digital..all had a faint line on day 9 thou 14 dpo went to doc for a blood test on day 12dpo...HCg was 7.42 very low waited that weekend and on the day of my miss period blood test was 43.39..still low but still going up I go for my next blood draw tomorrow ...no bleeding at anytime and I feel pregnant...sore boobs .eating more and bloating,,peeing a lot more as well..will update so others can read and feel better...I had a m/c in dec 2012 TTC 5 months..luck and baby dust
ReplyDeleteWishing you lots of luck! With my second baby I got a very very faint bfp at 9 days. I went in for blood work they said its very low. They had me come back two days later. It doubled but low v. Went back for a week, every other day and each time they told me it was just very low. Well he is four months old, healthy, and huge for his age. Please keep me posted. -Dana
ReplyDeleteHas anyone implanted within 24 hours after sex? I was ovulating on the 25 I had sex that night. I got cramping and pinkish brown spotting for two days. It has been a week since I spotted. I have been getting nauseas and dizzy for a few days and I get tired very easily. I'm taking a test in a few days.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to Anon ... no, it's more likely that the fluid released with the egg irritated your uterus lining a bit and cause a bit of spotting. It takes about a week or sometimes more for a fertilised egg to reach the uterus. xx
